E-mail is the communication means between Internet users. E-mail access comes with an ISP usually as standard. This source of messages can come instantly or through a POP3. |

Hyper Text Markup Language. This is the coding behind a web page and allows the web page's webmaster to design the page to their specification. The code can accommodate graphics, buttons and Java. |
Links |
Known as Hyperlinks, these are the HTML coding that allows the Internet user to link to other web pages, E-mailing a webmaster or download. |

Post Office Protocol 3. POP3 is the method by the which an internet user can collect their E-mail. POP3 stores the user's mail until you're ready to collect it. |

Java is a computer language written in the HTML format which does not require downloading and runs small programs in IE4 +. The programs are called Applets and the written code is called Script |

This is the ability to obtain files from an external source of the internet and place them on the Internet user's computer. |

File Transfer Protocol. This is the upload or download function from or to Internet Servers. This is used to create a connection between the ISP and the prospective webmaster's site. |
C.L.I.D |
Caller Line Identification. This is the method of additional security for ISP's. Using the line identification as well as a password and username, the ISP can be one of the safest access points to the internet. |
Password |
A specific word or number related to an access point that is supposed to be secret to the user. Usually comes in conjunction with a username. |
Username |
A name related to an ISP's access point. Usually used as an e-mail address for the ISP. |
Proxy Server |
This is the method of saving a website on an ISP for quicker access to the internet web page for the user requesting that certain web page. |
SMTP |
Simple Mail Transport Protocol. this is the method of transferring e-mails across the internet and ISP's. |
Bulletin Board |
A Bulletin Board is usually a free access to information across a wide spectrum. They allow people to talk, exchange news and find information. |

Common Gateway Interface Although Java is embedded code in an HTML, CGI is a program that is separate from HTML code. These programs are usually written in C++, Visual Basic or Perl. Most ISP's won't let you have CGI programs on their disk space, Boon Serve still don't have an opinion
